Rollin, Rollin, Rollin...

That's what my girls have been doing ever since they learned how!  It's so exciting to watch the subtle progression of events that take place as they work up to their final goal; they start by craning their neck behind them as if they are looking at something in that direction, then they make it to their side content to stay there and play, and finally they make it all the way over!  Until this point, they really hated to be on their tummies but now, they are on their tummies a good portion of the time...by choice!  In the beginning though, they still disliked it simply because they had yet to learn how to get back over ;)

We had just went to their 4 month checkup and "rolling over" was among the set questions that they ask you to check on their development.  Even though I don't think there is anything wrong, I always get a little nervous if I cannot answer the questions positively.  I thought they had asked if they were rolling one way or another when in actuality, they asked if they were rolling to their sides (which they were). Regardless, within a week, they were both rolling completely over :)

Emeri rolled from her back to her tummy on March 8th and then both ways on March 12th.  A little over a week later on March 18th Avari followed suit!  Let me tell you about that little stinker.  March 18th was a Sunday and when we went to pick them up from the church nursery, they commented on Avari rolling over.  I'm sorry, what?!?!  They were a little surprised to find out that we had not seen her do it yet.  I was so happy to hear that she had done it, but so sad to know that I wasn't there to see it.  I mean, come on!  I am a stay at home mom.  I am with them ALL the time.  But the one time I'm not, she decides to roll over.  So, I'm going by this rule:  I did not see it, therefor it did not happen :)  However, we brought them home from church and Avari decided to share her new little trick with her mommy and daddy as well!

So yes, my girls are now ALL over the place.  I'm talking, once they started going, they didn't stop.  They will be in one part of the room, I look up, and they are on the total opposite side.  The baby gates went up immediately and we learned right quick that we could no longer casually leave things lying around :)

Go Emi, Go!
(please excuse the fussy butt in the background...her sister was NOT happy)

Go Avi, Go!

And as a result....no more swaddles for us!  With the girls now rolling over, I didn't feel comfortable with them being wrapped so snugly and possibly getting stuck in an unsafe position.  So, we switched to these nifty little sleep slacks! The first night was a little rough, but after that, they were back to sleeping all night with no fuss.

And, just for fun, a few shots of my cuties in their jammies :)
