About mid-February, we decided to take our FIRST overnight adventure with the twins since they were born. Our little Jay Bird and Nina celebrated their birthdays this month so the family decided to get together for a little impromptu party for the two of them. So, we packed a few things and headed out the door.
Ha.
OR, we packed clothes for us and the girls, toiletries, diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, a pack n play, toys, etc. etc. Oh yeah, and I can't forget about all the dogs stuff!!
Wow, times sure have changed :)
Once we finally got everything packed and loaded, we headed to Crockett for our little overnight stay. We spent a little time at Nina and Papa's house before heading to Jan's for the remainder of the night. I wasn't quite sure how the girls were going to do considering they weren't in their room or in their crib. But, I have to say, they did really well and I am so proud of them! We used a cell phone app to try and create a similar atmosphere to the one they have at home with their sound machine (thanks Kristin for the suggestion!). It took them a few tears at the beginning to finally settle down, but once they did, they were out for the rest of the night!! This gave us the opportunity to visit with the family for a bit and watch a movie.
My girls ready for bed for their very 1st overnight stay!!!
LOVE waking up each morning to these sweet little thangs :)
Getting ready to go celebrate two very special people!
After everyone was up and ready, we headed back over to Nina and Papa's to get the party started. We ate a delicious lunch (as always), sang Happy Birthday & ate some yummy cake, and watched Jay and Nina open their gifts. Impromptu or not, I'd say it was a pretty great party :)
Nina loving on her great granddaughter.
Papa in deep conversation with Miss Emeri.
Look at those sweet faces!!!
The girls were SO great during lunch. We put a blanket down on the floor beside where I was sitting and they had a grand 'ol time.
Look at that cutie patootie TWO year old!!!
LOVE that Nina has an Elmo birthday cake ;)
Happy Birthday to Nina and Jay!
Blow out your candles, Jay!
Don't worry, Nannie will help you :)
Yay!!! We did it :)
Now, let's eat some cake!
And open some presents!
Hey, is there anything else in there?!?!
Nina is ALL smiles :)
Time for Nina to open her gifts (which looks a tad different than a 2 year old opening gifts ;))!
We had such a great time and are looking forward to our next trip out to Crockett...now that we know we can survive an overnight stay :)
