Here are my sweet Valentine's and I'm so glad I was able to spend the day with my two littlest loves! Unfortunately, my big love was out of town on a work trip and did not return until the next day. It's okay though, he made it up to us :)
Look at those long legs.
I see little smirks...I'll take it anything at this point :)
Yep, now we're done!
James returned the next afternoon with flowers for ALL of his girls and a little something extra for me :) And let me tell you, my husband sure was proud that he bought these flowers the day AFTER Valentine's Day and got a huge discount. AND, the lady in the florist area gave him two single roses for free. Not bad, eh?
Our beautiful flowers!
I love that my husband remembered his little girls on this holiday! Do I think Valentine's Day is a holiday that must be celebrated? No! However, I do think it is important to make one another feel special (ALL throughout the year) and I want my girls to find a guy just like their daddy....someone who makes them feel just as special as he makes me feel! We dried the roses and will keep them forever. After all, they are the very first roses they've ever received...and what better man to give them to our sweet angels than their very own daddy :)
A closeup of my bouquet of flowers!
So, do you guys remember the trip to Crockett a couple of weekends before? Well, the night before we left for on that trip, I had went shopping to find some jewelry to wear for our upcoming photo shoot. When I got home, I wanted to try them on with my entire outfit. I took off the jewelry I was currently wearing, placed them on the wrappings from the other jewelry, and tried on the new stuff. Yes, some of the current jewelry consisted of diamond earrings. Thinking I would just leave it all there and get it in the morning before we left, I finished packing and went to bed. The next morning as I was getting ready to leave, I noticed that the counter was completely empty. I started to panic and quickly asked James where all of the stuff was. He said, in the garbage. Now, you can imagine how I was starting to feel at this point. I explained to him that my diamond earrings were on top of that stuff and asked him to please go search through the garbage. But guess what? Yep, you're right...it was BIG garbage day. So, needless to say, my earrings were gone forever.
I was devastated. Maybe I can blame this on some lingering postpartum, but I cried. Let me paint a better picture for you.

I'm sure you're thinking I'm a little silly for responding this way. After all, it was just a pair of earrings. But you don't understand. These were the diamond earrings that James gave me for our 1 year anniversary of dating (yeah, ask him to tell you that story ;) ). These were the earrings that I wore when we got married. These were the earrings I wore through our entire pregnancy. These were the earrings I thought we would pass along to our girls one day...maybe make a necklace out of them so that each girl could have one. These are the earrings that are really gone forever.
Now, I won't deny that we both made mistakes. I really should be careful where I leave my stuff but James really should be careful not to carelessly throw things away. I guess we both learned our lessons this time.
So, there you have it. The story of why I got a new pair of diamond earrings for my Valentine's Day gift (apparently I was going to get a gift card to the spa but then he threw away my earrings ; ) ).
Love the added touch of a little chocolate....he knows the way to this girls heart ;)
We really did have a special Valentine's....but most importantly, we were able to spend it with the ones we love the most!
