Breaker's REEF

One of my goals this summer is to read as much as possible (see my previous post: My Summer To Do List). Originally, I thought it would be nice to keep a count of the books I read this summer (if my memory serves, I read 12 last summer). Then, I started thinking I should record the Titles & Authors of each book that I read. All this thinking lead to me wanting to share the books I read, what they're about, and whether I recommend them or not. I am just going to use the synopsis on the back of each book to give you an overview for fear of revealing too much! I will then proceed to tell you my opinion of the book and whether I recommend it or not. I hope that in reading this, you might find some good reads this summer (or anytime for that matter).

Book #1: Breaker's Reef (Author: Terri Blackstock)

When a famous mystery writer moves to Cape Refuge, ex-con Shelia Caruso--mother to Sadie and Caleb--is thrilled to get a job working for him. But when a teenage girl is found murdered, Shelia discovers that a scene in one of the eccentric writer's novels matches the crime scene. Exactly.
Then a second dead girl is discovered by Police Chief Cade and Blair Owens. And when this murder mirrors a scene in another of the writer's books, Cade is drawn into a web of trickery and deceit. Shockingly, evidence turns up in Cade's truck--evidence that points to Cade himself as the number one suspect!
Cade tries to clear his name, but when eighteen-year old Sadie Caruso disappears, tensions mount to a fever pitch. Can Cade find the real killer before Sadie winds up dead? Is the author a demented killer or a hapless victim? And what does Sadie's own mother have to do with the crimes?
Secrets are uncovered while lessons are learned about the sins of the fathers being visited upon their children. Will the consequences of Shelia's poor choices in life be fatal, or is there redemption and mercy for her and her children?

My Thoughts: This is the 4th and final book in the Cape Refuge Series by Terri Blackstock and I highly recommend it. Actually, I recommend you read the whole series: 1) Cape Refuge 2) Southern Storm 3)River's Edge 4) Breaker's Reef. This christian fiction author has a way of capturing your interest and not letting go until the very end-and even then your wanting to know "What next?" I love how she brings a mystery into each book that I want to solve while still making God the focus. I love to read books that make me think (but not much), keep me interested, that I can make a connection with, and leave me feeling good when I'm finished. Terri Blackstock was able to do all this with Breaker's Reef and I loved it!! It's a MUST READ!
