Easter Weekend

Whew!  What a weekend.  It was jam packed but tons of fun!  We started off the weekend by going to the Saturday evening Easter service at our church.  I am so thankful to be a part of such an incredible group of people and so honored to have been able to celebrate the resurrection of our Jesus with them.  What a special, special day.

I know, I know.  Beautiful dresses and fancy hair bows have NOTHING to do with Easter but I sure did have fun getting my girls all gussied up for this special night!  I mean, come on....when do you get many chances to put your girls in big poofy dresses like these?!?!  And look at those tiny little shoes....their first pair of shoes (yep, they wore them only that one time).  Yes, I know.  They are miserable but they are oh soooo adorable :) I promise, I won't put them in dresses like these next Easter but I couldn't resist for their very first one!!! Don't deny it.  You totally agree after seeing the picture below!

LOVE the bracelets Nannie bought for them...they say "Jesus loves me."  I pray my girls ALWAYS remember this!

LOVE this face!!!  I am sure this is EXACTLY how she felt about her dress :)
My girls with their very first Easter baskets (if I had been prepared, they would have had super cute ones with their names on them....if only I had been prepared)!!!
Avari is ready to dig in (or maybe she's just falling over?!)!

On Sunday morning, we joined the Taliaferro family and headed to Chapel Hill to have a little bluebonnet photo shoot.  Have I ever told you how nothing Heather and I do together ever seems to go right?!  Oh, our intentions are always good and our ideas are even well planned out....or at least we think so.  But somehow, we ALWAYS manage to find stumbling blocks along the way. This day was no exception.  It was no short drive down there and after our attempt to find a pretty patch of bluebonnets (ya know, one that was not private property), it took a little longer than we had anticipated.  I won't lie. We came very close to turning around and going home.  But finally, we saw a beautiful field of bluebonnets with several other families doing the same thing we had set out to do.  So obviously, it wasn't private property :)  By the time we arrived it was pretty hot outside and my girls were already hungry.  But we weren't going to let a few minor issues stop us.  We had found a spot.  We WERE getting some bluebonnet pictures!  A couple of bottles later and time spent in the air conditioned expedition, I think we managed to get a few good shots :)

The whole gang!

Since we had prepared dinner the night before, we decided to go our separate ways after our photo shoot and rest before enjoying our delicious Easter feast (BTW: I have to tell you that I made my first chocolate pie from scratch and it was soo tasty!).  This gave us the opportunity to spend some time with our girls while they explored their Easter goodies.  I was kind of limited on the things I could buy them this year due to their age~I'll do better next year :)  Either way, I think it was a hit!

Me helping my Emi

Daddy helping his Avi!
Daddy being silly...always :)
We read our girls the books they found in their baskets.  One was a fun Easter book full of eggs, bunnies, and such and the other was the REAL story behind this special day.
Here are a few random pictures that we took of our girls while they were playing....I imagine they are pictured out at this point ;)
Love the way she's looking at her sister in this picture!

It was a beautiful weekend and I'm so thankful we were able to share it with this very special family!
