Few and Far Between...

I hope that this does not become a regular occurrence as I truly do enjoy blogging (and oddly enough, have actually “missed” it) but I have been so incredibly busy lately that I can’t seem to find the time. And when I do have any spare time (ha!), I don’t really want to do much of anything. I am beyond exhausted tonight but in an effort to avoid this road I seem to be going down, I decided to tackle my list of posts that I am behind on (oh, and to give my followers something to read-I’ve actually had complaints for my lack of updates)!

With my official return to work last week and my kiddos return to school today, I decided I should take a look at my “Summer To Do List” and relish in my accomplishments (and kick myself for those things I managed to avoid somehow).

1.) Make one of the spare bedrooms into a scrapbooking room. I actually completed, well, made a functional scrapbook room with a lack of decorations before the end of the last school year. My wonderful husband spent several hours helping me put my new furniture together, giving me and Heather a place to scrapbook for the beginning of the summer. I’m not sure how time got away from us but it did....and now I fear when I might actually get to spend some time up there again. Regardless, if you missed my post on this, check out my fabulous space.

2.) Clean out my closest...this occurred on one of my MANY sleepless night due to the wonderful (do you sense the sarcasm here) drugs I’m taking. I am not sure what got into me but I felt the need to clean and organize everything. I stayed up really late one night and got rid of a bunch of clothes while re-washing ones I wanted to keep. It’s amazing what you’ll find when you go shopping in your own closet! ;-P It didn’t end here....I kept going and organized my bathroom cabinets (both downstairs and upstairs), my kitchen cabinets, and my night stand!!

3.) Read, Read, Read! Oh how I enjoyed the summer, laying in my pool with a good book in hand (it seems so long ago now). I read 11 books over the summer and loved every one of them. This also helped with #4.

4.) Clean my highly disorganized office. James and I cleaned the office towards the beginning of the summer (it did help that my desk was moved to my scrapbook room leaving more room to spread things out). Since I have done so much reading, I was able to get rid of a lot of the books that had created the overflowing piles in the office (the other 200 are at least neatly piled now ;-) ). I shredded a lot of old work stuff-how do I let it stack up so easily?! I’m glad James has his office back....I know he is too!

5.) Finish the really cute address book I made last summer. Although I did this, I fill like it is incomplete. As I was going through both books, I realized that there are a lot of people who have moved, that I have lost touch with. I am now in search of new addresses! :-)

6.) Start working out/eating more healthy. I don’t think I was given much of a choice here....the diet I mean lifestyle change is actually going fairly well considering my LOVE for food. And now that I am committed to running in these races (more to come on this), I have been working out pretty regularly.

7.) Decorate the house. I set a few things out here and there but I can’t HONESTLY say I mastered this goal. There are still things sitting in my closet that have yet to be hung up...

8.) Reconnect! Facebook works wonders for this! I did get in touch with a few friends from the past and although I can’t say it’s been consistent, I truly am trying to be better about this. It feels really good to “reconnect” and see where everyone’s life has sent them.

9.) Take classes. Other than money, I have no excuses here. I never gave in and committed to signing up. But hey, just because summer’s over, doesn’t mean it can’t happen in my spare time (ha!).

10.) Work! I really did not work until towards the end of the summer (something I am regretting now) but I did work on deleting the impossible and endless emails that consume my work email. It doesn’t matter what I did though, it’s already full again! ;-/

Eight out of ten is not half bad...and like I said, just because summer is over, doesn’t mean I won’t continue to work on these goals. Better yet, there’s always next summer!! ;-P
