Watch Out Austin!!

To say I have the best friends in the world would be an understatement! Not only are they the greatest friends a girl could ask for, they are also the most thoughtful, kindhearted, sweet spirited ladies I know. About a month ago I learned that they had been planning a girls weekend for us....a weekend to get away from the daily grind and take a break from reality; a couple days to escape their motherly duties; some time to avoid my fears or to talk about them if I so chose to. The plan originally was to surprise me but instead they decided to tell me so that I could be a part of the planning. After many email transactions and many discussions between the 4 of us, the weekend finally arrived and we were Austin bound!
After meeting up with Khyle, we headed to Chuy’s for a yummy lunch! Although I regretted this lunch later (stupid stomach), I didn’t let it slow me down! It was so nice to be with all the girls again, having good conversation over great food...and drinks of course. I won’t lie to my doctor, their margaritas are too delicious to resist!

After lunch, we headed to Texas Rowing to go kayaking. I know, I know...this is a slightly out of the ordinary choice for our girls weekend but we had heard good things about it so we decided to give it a whirl. Even though we couldn’t double up in the kayaks (they only had singles available) it actually turned out to be a good time. Our only complaint is that we didn’t have enough time to complete the course or actually lay back and relax a little. You ask why, well, because pedi’s were calling our names! :-) Either way, the weather was beautiful, the adventure was inexpensive, and more importantly, I was doing it with my girls!

Bringing it in.....
After kayaking and leaving a little more wet than expected (I told you girls we should have worn our swimsuits ;-P ), we headed to this adorable nail salon Embellish Nails & Boutique. We were all exhausted after our adventure-what better way to rest up than to get pedicures?! We were all a little sad to see our summer coming to an end by changing our nail polish from summer hot pinks to fall mauve shades...but even fall brings great things (especially this fall I hope ;-) ). We were able to relax in recliners with hot neck wraps and leg/foot massages. Ahhh....now this is the life!

Khyle had to head back to College Station but Heather, Holly, and I stayed in a hotel for the night! After taking advantage of the FREE happy hour the hotel offered (to bad my tummy was still feeling creepy), we decided to rest our sore bodies in the whirl pool. There’s just something about relaxing in the hot tub with the girls that makes all things in life seem right!

I must admit, 3 indecisive HUNGRY girls don’t mix!! It took us a while to make a decision concerning dinner and people were getting cranky, but eventually we got advice from the help desk downstairs who sent us to Zax. It was within walking distance, had a bar, and was delicious food. We ordered our food and took it back to our room-at this point, we are all happy once again! ;-) We all stayed up well past our normal bedtimes and just talked (oh yeah, and ordered tasty dessert from the hotel restaurant). It was so nice to be with my girls and just talk...about nothing and everything all at the same time. And I can honestly say, thanks to them and their no cell phone policy, I forgot about work and most of my worries for just a little while. Hey girls, it’s YOUR TURN!!! ;-P
After enjoying a nice breakfast at the hotel Sunday morning, we headed home only stopping for lunch and of course dessert! I cannot think of a better way to have spent my Labor Day weekend. I feel well rested and actually semi-ready to return to work. Thank you girls for a fabulous weekend and more importantly, thank you for being so good to me. I love you guys with all of my heart and couldn’t ask for better friends. I feel so incredibly blessed and I know I will make it through all these challenges with you by my side!

I am so glad we took time out of our busy lives to hang out with each other! I think we all needed it even more than we originally thought :) And yes, I was perhaps just a LITTLE cranky ~ hey, when I'm hungry I simply can't help it! It was a great time girls ~ love you all ~ here's to the next one :)
