It's actually kind of a funny story:
I told Dr. Peterson right before our ultrasound not to worry about James if he passed out (he always said he would if there was more than one baby in there). I told her he would be fine and to continue with the exam (I said all of this not actually knowing that it WOULD be true....although I did have a slight feeling). She just laughed and said that my beta levels were actually quite high and that this can indicate multiples. As she began the examination, we all saw two babies on there....but of course at the time, neither James nor I were confident that what we were looking at was two separate babies. But when I saw Dr. Peterson smile, I just knew that we were indeed having multiples. She continued to look and take measurements for a few minutes. She said she wanted to be sure but yes, we are indeed having twins!!! :) :) I just couldn't (and still can't) quit smiling!!!! We were not able to hear the heartbeats at this time because it is still too early but we were able to see them....two strong heartbeats!! This was one of the most beautiful sights as we witnessed for the first time the miracle of our precious babies. James hugged me for a long time afterwards.....I wasn't sure if it was from happiness or pure fear and the need for me to keep him from passing out! ;-P
Oh boy, sharing this second round of news was incredibly exciting!!! Everyone I have told has either cried and/or gotten goose bumps. James and I were just talking about how incredibly blessed we feel to have such an amazing support system by our side-we have the BEST friends and family and we love each and every one of you!!!!! We are so excited to take you along on this journey with us (and I'm sure we're going to need all the help/hands we can get)!!!! :)
