James knew that life had proved to be a struggle for me over the previous few months. He knew that I had been wanting to get away from it all. He knew that I needed an escape. So, being the sweet husband that he is, he planned a get away for the two of us to Blisswood Bed & Breakfast over my Spring Break. James and I had never been to a B&B so I was excited to discover that we would be staying at this beautiful, 650 acre ranch in Cat Springs.
No TV.
No Internet.
No (or at least not much) phone service.
This is EXACTLY what we both needed. No communication with the outside world. Just sweet time spent together reflecting on our life-the adventure we had been on and the one we were about to embrace. Little did we know that our dreams were unfolding right before our eyes!
It was perfect. We slept, spent sweet time together, had deep conversations, spent quiet time with God, took long walks/bike rides, soaked in the scenery (much like where we come from), and just really enjoyed getting away from this crazy thing call life! We spent two nights in the Lanai House and enjoyed every minute of it! Wouldn't it be nice if we could do this more often-take some time to get away from the busyness and reflect on what's really important in life? Even just writing this post and looking at these pictures makes me crave going back....to go back to that peaceful time of limited technology and meaningful conversation!
See for yourself!
Our House
Meet Firecracker~only the sweetest, most adorable dog ever (besides ours of course!). He was our greeter each time we came back to the house and would even hang out with us while we were reading on the porch :)
Awesome scenery around the ranch!
The indoor pool!
Beautiful flowers!
Carol's kangaroo! She (the owner) told us she bought him because she wanted something "different!" Isn't that funny? The kangaroo was super friendly and sooo soft. She actually got him when he was small enough to be carried in a diaper bag (and yes, he wore diapers and drank from a bottle!).
James must have really felt sorry for me~I have never been able to convince him to go horseback riding (not even on our honeymoon). I don't see what the problem ever was though because he was an 'ol pro (ya know, because we barrel raced and all ;-P).
Carol was our tour guide and gave us a ton of history about the ranch as we absorbed the beauty of it all.
After riding bikes one day, we took a walk around the place. Apparently they have weddings here...I can definitely see why :)
We of course couldn't leave before eating at Carol's Restaurant! Clever name eh? :)
We had an amazing time and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice (close) getaway! This will forever be a place close to our hearts because this was in fact the same week our precious baby girls were conceived. Whether it happened at this ranch or somewhere else, it is a process and I feel like God had us exactly where He wanted us (both physically as well as spiritually)!
Thanks babe for whisking me away ;-)
