35 Week Appointment

I went in for my weekly appointment today and things are still progressing well!  Actually, we are completing our last minute preparations as I write if that tells you anything?! :)

Dr. Peterson said I am 80-90% effaced and 3 cm dilated.  I had been a little concerned about the inactivity I was feeling from my girls but she assured me that they are doing great (I guess it's true that they slow down towards the end?!?!  She looked at them via ultrasound and measured the fluid around them.  She examined me and also did my Strep-B swab.  I was originally supposed to go the hospital at some point this week to have them monitor me again but they didn't have any appointments.  So instead, they just did this in the office.  My doctor was very pleased with the girls heart rates and seemed a little surprised to see that I was having very frequent contractions.  I am always a little "crampy" after an exam but this was much different....I actually felt like I was having contractions.  She said she wouldn't be surprised if she saw me again before the week was over!!  So, she sent me home with a reminder of the things to look for and an idea of when we should head to the hospital.

I came home and laid down for a little bit but unfortunately was unable to take a nap~the pain was definitely keeping me awake.  It eased up some and when James came home, we went out to eat (possibly one last time without kids?!?!).  I had already saw some blood and what I thought was potentially my mucous plug since leaving my doctors office.  However, when we got home from eating out, I was actually confident that that's what it was!!!  So, I guess I have lost or am losing my mucous plug!  Yes, I know....TMI?!?!  But I don't care....I want to record all the details and remember this sweet time always :)

I realize that pregnancy & labor can be so unpredictable.  Even after all that has happened today, it could still be several weeks.....or it could be tonight!!  Either way, we are super excited and ready to welcome our sweet angels into this world when God is ready to send them our way.

I doubt this will happen, but I am going to try to get some rest now....ya know, just in case I need my energy for something big....like HAVING BABIES!!! ;)

*I forgot to mention that like always, my blood pressure was high at the beginning of the appointment but better by the end (could it be nerves?!?!). Also, my urinalysis results came back fine.  She said I do have a little protein in my urine but nothing to be concerned about!! :)
